PlayGrifball Code of Conduct

As the world’s leading organizer of competitive and recreational Grifball leagues and events, PlayGrifball is committed towards fostering a community and environment that is friendly and welcoming to all grifballers and community members.  In line with this goal, we ask that all community members and league participants conduct themselves in a civilized manner when participating in PlayGrifball leagues or events, when posting comments to the site, and when using the official PlayGrifball Discord.

The guidelines and rules listed below are not comprehensive and may not address all manner of offensive behavior.  As such, site moderators and league administrators have full discretion to address any behavior they feel is inappropriate.  PlayGrifball leadership also reserves the right to evaluate each incident on a case-by-case basis.

Offensive/Discriminatory Language

This category includes any sort of language or links to websites containing language that is recognized as or intended to be offensive to a specific race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.  Similarly, any sort of language or links to websites containing language that promotes or is intended to promote hatred or discrimination against any such group is also covered under this category.

Any player found to have participated in such actions will receive a temporary suspension from the PlayGrifball Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.  The duration and scope of this suspension will be based on the severity of the violation as well as the player’s history of conduct violations.

Particularly severe violations and/or a lengthy history of conduct violations may also result in a final warning and/or a permanent ban from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.

Adult/NSFW and Illegal Content

The posting of pornography or any other sort of adult or NSFW content, or links to websites containing any such content, is prohibited.  Similarly, any language or links to websites containing such language that encourages or otherwise promotes illegal drugs or activities is also prohibited.

Any player found to have violated these rules will receive a warning and/or a temporary suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.  The duration and scope of this suspension will be based on the severity of the violation as well as the player’s history of conduct violations.

Particularly severe violations and/or a lengthy history of conduct violations may also result in a final warning and/or a permanent ban from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.

Real-Life Threats

Any sort of language or behavior that threatens or implies a threat of any form of real-life violence is prohibited.  Similarly, any sort of language or behavior that encourages or otherwise promotes self-harm is also prohibited.

Any player found to have violated these rules will receive a temporary suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.  The duration and scope of this suspension will be based on the severity of the violation as well as the player’s history of conduct violations.

Particularly severe violations and/or a lengthy history of conduct violations may also result in a final warning and/or a permanent ban from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.

Distribution of Private Information

Doxxing, or releasing any real-life information about other players, community members, and/or staff without their consent is prohibited.

Any player found to have violated these rules will receive either a temporary or permanent suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events, depending on the severity of the offense.

Posting Hacks, Exploits, or Malware

Distributing links to game hacks or exploits, or encouraging such hacks or exploits, is prohibited.  Similarly, distributing links or otherwise promoting any form of malicious software is also prohibited.

Any player found to have violated these rules will receive either a temporary or permanent suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events, depending on the severity of the offense.

Harassment and Personal Attacks

Any sort of language that harasses, personally attacks, or encourages such harassment or personal attacks against another player or group of players is prohibited.

As a home of competitive Grifball league and events, it is expected that there is a certain degree of “trash talk” that comes with a competitive environment; however, there is a fine line between acceptable “trash talk” and personal attacks or harassment.  Generally speaking, attacks or insults that are intended to target a player’s real-life personal circumstances or characteristics usually fall on the side of personal attacks.

Any player found to have participated in such actions will receive a warning, and may also receive temporary suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.  The duration and scope of the discipline will be based on the severity of the violation as well as the player’s history of conduct violations.  Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment or personal attacks can lead to more severe action.

Particularly severe violations and/or a lengthy history of conduct violations may also result in a final warning and/or a permanent ban from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events.

Circumventing a Suspension or Ban

Attempting to circumvent a PlayGrifball suspension or ban, whether that be through creating an alternate account, using another player’s account to post or participate in PlayGrifball leagues or events, or other methods, is prohibited.  PlayGrifball players and community members may not register for leagues or events under more than one account.  Similarly, the creation of an alternate Xbox Live Gamertag in order to circumvent a league or event ban, or in order to influence a player’s bidding value in the AGLA, is also prohibited.

Any player found to have violated these rules will receive either a temporary or permanent suspension from the Discord server and/or PlayGrifball leagues and events, depending on the severity of the offense.

Stat padding

In Grifball, statpadding is defined as a team intentionally not scoring the ball in order to boost their stats, typically done in conjunction with spawn-killing.  Statpadding in PlayGrifball league games or in PlayGrifball events is prohibited.  While PlayGrifball does not condone statpadding in matchmaking or unofficial custom games, we also recognize that it isn’t our role to police for this behavior and statpadding outside of PlayGrifball leagues/events is not prohibited under these rules.

Advertising

Unsolicited advertisement of any non-beneficial or irrelevant businesses, organizations, or websites is prohibited.  PlayGrifball accounts created for this purpose may be permanently banned without warning, and repeated violations concerning a specific business or product may have that business or product added to site and forum filters, preventing any future posts or references about such business/product.
