WL21 Legacy Awards Ceremony
What up what up! With regular season coming to a close, and a juicy playoff article on the way, its time to wrap up a fantastic season by honoring the greats. The votes are in and the winners have been decided, but that is not enough for me, so I am also giving out some sweet awesome BONUS awards! Woooo!
Best Tank
Halfbreed
Best Tank is one of the most coveted awards for any Grifball player. This season we saw two of the top candidates coming from the same team, and somehow two other guys snuck in with large vote totals. Ultimately though their efforts were futile and Halfbreed dominated and tanked their brains into dust.
Best Defender
Sabasauros rex
Tight race here, and a part of me feels I should just give the award to Dcleak but the rules is the rules. Sab just has a solid season, operating at top form all around, defending, tanking, brawling.
Best Hybrid
Sabasauros rex
Hey look, its Sab again! Sab did have a great season, like I said. Hybrid is always tricky and hard to quantify. I always felt it was ones ability to be a threat in every situation and with every weapon. While in my personal opinion players like Aspence or Dcleak proved to be more threatening with the sword, and their highflying antics could confuse just about any team, Sab was a force with every weapon and in every phase of the game.
Best Runner
Regresser
Best runner, man oh man, what an award. Maybe the highest honor one can receive. This season was a tight race, with a number of strong runners. One big player of note that is missing is Robot, who while he had an outstanding season, both him and doer had a lot of help in terms of the rest of their teams playstyle. That being said this award goes to the one and only Regresser. While Regresser does not have the highest goals per game, and doesn’t panic if he isn’t holding the bomb, the fact that he was as successful as he was with his unconventional tanking line spoke volumes, and the voters heard.
MVP
sabasauros rex
Now it is his time to shine, the threepeat himself, Sab! It sort of makes this award obvious when you have a player sweeping multiple categories beforehand but it was a well deserved victory. Unfortunately for Sabs teammates, and players like Dhmon and Snipez, Sab having such an overall dominant season pushed many accomplishments and healthy performances down a notch. Follow Sab through the playoffs as his team enters with the #1 seed.
Fun Time!
Now it is time for the fun awards, the good ones, the ill ones, where we honor the real players, making the real moves, and the real efforts being put forth!
Best Captain
BCK
BCK rocked this season hard, drafting AJ as sick boy bait, only to trade him before a single game was played in the blockbuster to end all blockbusters. Turned a team of who knows what, into a team of studs and stars!
Scariest
Galvan
Galvan is no doubt scary, and seems to have almost everyones number on the court. There are very few situations where you can say with certainty that Galvan doesn’t have it. Be it on defense or a push, there is always the 1% chance, and he seems to strike those odds a lot. (Pete was a close second, go pete!)
Best Duo
Gingy/Halfbreed
This one was one of the no brainer awards. These two are crushing everyone in their path this season. The duo working together was something we needed to see in action before we could say it would work, but all signs pointed to it working extremely well. The real test for this duo starts now.
Biggest Hot Dog
Conra
Conra sweeps the Hot Dog awards in both rookie and legacy, going by the name Godra for an entire season, and relentlessly bullying anyone and everyone whenever he saw fit. The man hot dogs so hard he had his buddies rally for him in legacy after winning rookie, and did not utter a word. But in a dramatic twist, we have a co hot dog winner, the one, the only, AJ Cena, who manages to boast about his sick nasty plays while also claiming to be a 5th round pick. Welcome to the hall of fame big sad hot dog.

Flashiest Player
Jbar
My personal vote for MVP, Jbar brings the X factor to a team like no one else. Even when subbing for AJ with a team that had put on an awful showing, he came out on top. With more air time this season than floor time, its clear why he was the winner.
Sleeper Pick
Cxrnchip
When corn was drafted I claimed it had saved the entire draft for his team. We are talking about a champion from last season, going in the last round. Still blows my mind. Corn has since delivered, while not playing as many games as some of the other choices, he shined when he played like no other.
Most Improved
Nkot
I think the top three candidates for this award all deserve it. Myself, became a viable 3rd tank on a team. Pete did his classic on season off season and happened to improve to be one of the biggest threats out there, and Atone went from being unable to win, to a playoff run dreamer!
Biggest Disappointment
Silva
First off, Silva is very sad and played on two teams and went 3-9. Very disappoint. But the little side answers everyone included in this were also great. We had such hits as “AJ with no wins across 3 teams”, “AJ 0% Win percentage Across 3 Teams”, “Nkot always putting himself in awards”, meanwhile I am in two, of which are very valid so THINK ABOUT ME MUCH HUH?! Also I am officially deciding to double down on this award and give one to AJ as well! Congratulations buddy, you had a pathetic season!
